In August of 2006 I was filling up my car at a gas station in Wildomar, CA when I saw this fake horse in front of an old ranch house. Propped up against the horse was an old Lightning Bolt Brand surfboard made popular by Gerry Lopez and crew in the 60's. These were the most popular name brand surfboard at the time. Today they are collectors items and are rare and highly sought after. So you can Imagine what I thought when I saw this thing sitting outside being beaten by the 100+ degree temperature and destructive UV rays from the sun. I said to myself "that board needs a loving home that can care for it properly". So I walked up to the farmer who was standing next to the "horse riding lessons" sign and struck up a conversation. I could barely understand the words that were spoken from his toothless mouth, but I was under the impression that he was never going to part with the board because he has had it for over 30 years. I asked him if there was anything that I could do to get that board from him, at which point he turned to me and spoke in a language similar to English when he said, "it would take a whooooooole lot of money". I left without the board and have never seen it since.
